Claudia’s life had always felt as if it were a half lived empty shell lacking in any real meaning or importance. That all changed the night she had a chance encounter (she insists a destined meeting) with the captivating Vampiresse and became one of her preferred meals. Now her life has purpose, meaning, and importance… every drop of it and she couldn’t be happier.
This is another commissioned piece for ~Hemily, this one featuring his alluring vampire, Vampiresse. He really wanted a piece that showed off her sensual (and/or viscous) side as well as featuring a nice large full moon. To show off her sensual side, I decided to place her with one of her “victims” (she never kills them and they always beg for more… once they’ve built the blood reserves back up that is). After several ideas, a solid classic vampire piece was decided upon, complete with blood, cemeteries, and, of course, the much needed moon. While initially I wanted to do something a bit different from the normal vampire works, I found that once I committed my self to this piece, I really did get into it and truly enjoyed its simple undiluted and unconveluted content. There is something to be said for the classics I guess. When its all said and done, I’m glad Hem’s steered me onto this path and had me produce this painting… I almost want to do it again. In keeping true to tradition, I again used a new medium for this piece; gouache. I had been wanting to try this paint for some time now, but it’s price had always deterred me; I just never had enough money to get enough colors to adequately try it and then be content to be out the money if it turned out that I hated the paint. Then I stumbled across a great set on sale and snatched it up. Well, suffice to say, I really love the paint for its versatility. It handles like watercolor, but I can achieve effects that I had only been able to do with oils before (though I had come close with colored pencils) and for the first time in a while, I have an almost pure painting. Medium: gouache, watercolor, and ink on 300lbs hot pressed watercolor paper. |

"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance." ~ Aristotle
Awesome piece Graver.
... I'm kidding, sheesh. Graver, once again I feel compelled to burn several paint brushes as an offering to you as the God of Watercolors. That, and have a happy, tingly feeling knowing I'll have enough spending money to indulge in comissions
