Lord Belothon Silvermist

A commission for ~Oneish featuring his WoW character, Lord Thèren Bèlothon Silvermist IV.

For this piece, I was requested to paint a WoW character, but in a less stylized fashion then most are depicted in game with a suit of armour based more on real suits and less on fantasy designs while giving the whole piece the look of one of the old royal portraits from 16-18th centuries. This is the end product of those requests, and an end product I really like.

Lately with my digital worlds, my colour palate has gotten more saturated with each painting leaving the more muted earthen tones, somber reds, and yellowed whites behind. I hadn't really fully realized that until I began this painting and had to make a conscious effort to go back to the more analogous warm palate that had once been my only palate. It felt good returning to that palate that i had almost forgotten, something that i think I need to attempt to do more often.

Medium: digital, composed and executed entirely in painter IX with an Intuos 1 tablet.
