I painted Guard Dog as a gift for the great =Starchasm. It features the love of her life, a black pug by the name of Ozzy... I have no idea how many treats I had to offer him in order to get a decant pose to paint.

Originally I was going to make this an oil painting but the logistics of keeping such a thing a secret from Star was just too great and I ended up attempting my it as my first ever full on digital painting.

It was entirely painting in Painter IX using a fine oil brush, oil pastels, and a couple of the palate knives. What amuses me is, in real life, I had never used or wanted to use a palate knife as a painting tool. I was always too caught up in making the a painting look like a photograph but in this digital painting, I ended up using the palate knife tools to make it look like a painting I guess I'm never happy unless I'm fighting the medium I'm working in...
