The ever playful Dragonberry on a bear skin rug Classic!

A commissioned piece for *Scarfgirl featuring her flagship character, Dragonberry who, as stated before, is on a bear skin rug.

This was an incredibly fun piece to do and a wonderful departure from the norm for me. When i was given this assignment, I was simply told to paint "Deebs on a bear skin rug!" After some flitting through some old pin-up art of the 30's-50's I figured I had a good idea of how to put the work together. However, once I got the basic form down, i suddenly realized that the skin I was so loving;y making soft and smooth would have to house millions upon millions of scales 9deebs being a spiny lizard girl and all). That's where the challenge really started.

Here I had a spiny lizard girl (playful and bubbly or not) who I had to make look warm and soft (very hard to do with scaly spiny things). I finally decided to give a subtle snake skin like scaling to her skin and play up the slick sheen of it... and that seemed to do the trick quite nicely.

All in all, it was a wonderful change of pace for me. No fighting, blood, high drama, or complex get-ups. Just a simple scaly and spiny nude on a bear skin rug (okay, how many times did I say bear skin now?)
