Knowing that he had found a clue, the intrepid detective Noisemaze flicked his trusty Zippo to get a better look at that suspiciously crimson colored pool of liquid on the floor. Just as his senses confirmed what it was, the hairs on the back of his neck stood at attention -he was starting to get a real bad feeling about things...
A commission for ~McBradders of his character Noisemaze. Of all the watercolor's I have done to date, this one had to eat up the most paint. I long ago lost track of the number of paint layers that went into trying to give it a dark look with a single light source. I wasn't able to quite pull it off in a realistic sense (it's a real powerful zippo) and for a span of a few hours, i thought I had completely destroyed the painting, but managed to pull it back from the brink with some serious wet erresing. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the results... and this one has to be my darkest most saturated piece to date... Medium: Watercolor, india ink, and colored pencil on 300lbs hot pressed watercolor paper. |
